Design for the construction of rigid pavement on Shagamu-Ikorodu road (lot 41) in Lagos State - Nigeria

The road has an approximate length of 30.40 km and has two different cross sections:
A first cross section 12.80 m wide, composed by:

  • 2 external shoulders of 2.75 m
  • 2 lanes of 3.65 m each

A second cross section 22.70 m wide, composed by:

  • 2 external drains of 0.85 m
  • 2 external shoulders of 2.70 m
  • 2 lanes of 3.65 m in each direction
  • Median divider provision 1.00 m in width. A rigid barrier (New Jersey) will be used.

The double carriageway cross section will be used only in the urban areas near the towns of Ikorodu and Shagamu. Two different pavement structures will be constructed in the various sections, a flexible one and a continuously reinforced concrete pavement (rigid).

The project includes also the design of No.28 reinforced concrete culverts.
